What I Learned During My First Year of University
In less than month, I am going into my second year of university and I've been reflecting on my first year. I've summarised what I thought were the most useful things I learned:
1) Don't focus so much on making friends, just be yourself and you will meet like-minded people.
3) Don't be scared to put yourself out there and try new things e.g. joining a sports club or a society. Don't stick to what you already know, this might prevent you from meeting a large range of people.
4) Limit procrastination! Don't get carried away with having fun and forget why you're at uni. BALANCE is key, make time to do work, it just prevents getting stressed out.
5) Comparing yourself to others is not a good way to spend your time. Don't be so hard on yourself!
6) Just because other student haven't started revising or started the coursework doesn't mean you should do the same.
7) First year doesn't count (for most courses), but doesn't mean you should make an effort.
8) If you're not balling like me (lol!) and have the time, a part time job might be a good idea. For me, the odd pays from my part job really helped throughout the year.
9) Don't forget to take care of yourself.
10) Breath in, breath out...
First year of Uni was interesting! I moved out for the first time and found myself in a place where I knew no one. I would be lying if I said they weren't some low and lonely times, but over all it was a great experience I'll never forget. Starting university has a set me on a part of getting to know myself and the world around me in a way I never have and I'm really enjoying it so much.

2) Be smart with money. Trust me the amount of money you get at the beginning of each term might seem like a lot, but it never is. I had to learn this the hard way!
