What I Learned During My First Year of University

In less than month, I am going into my second year of university and I've been reflecting on my first year. I've summarised what I thought were the most useful things I learned: 1) Don't focus so much on making friends, just be yourself and you will meet like-minded people. 2) Be smart with money. Trust me the amount of money you get at the beginning of each term might seem like a lot, but it never is. I had to learn this the hard way! 3) Don't be scared to put yourself out there and try new things e.g. joining a sports club or a society. Don't stick to what you already know, this might prevent you from meeting a large range of people. 4)  Limit procrastination! Don't get carried away with having fun and forget why you're at uni. BALANCE is key, make time to do work, it just prevents getting stressed out. 5) Comparing yourself to others is not a good way to spend your time. Homecoming

11 years, 6 months and 20 days later, we made our way back to the motherland - Nigeria ♥️ and it was amazing!! My family and I went back for just over 2 weeks, we split our time over three cities in Nigeria; Abuja, Benin(Home town!) and Lagos. The trip consisted of reuniting with family and friends and being completely overwhelmed by nostalgia. Most of my conversations with my brothers and everyone we caught up with involved the phrase "Do you remember when...?" It was great having little things bringing back so many happy memories, whether it was the street we used to walk down to get to school or the shop across the road where we used to get sweets and biscuits from. It was especially lovely seeing our cousins that were our best friends growing up and reminiscing over memories and inside jokes only we could laugh at!  There were lots of driving and sight seeing.
